4^th Grade California History Education Program

Irvine Park Railroad has created a California History Education Program that meets the State of California curriculum requirements. The program will meet the curriculum requirements for Fourth Grade, History-Social Science Content Standards for California Public Schools (Section 4.3 and one-half of Section 4.4).

Cost: $12.50 per student ■ $3.00 per adult ■ Teachers are FREE!

Field trip dates will be scheduled Monday through Friday (only) during the month of February.

Field trips begin at 9:30 am and last approximately 2 1/2 hours. A Party Pavilion will be available if students and teachers choose to bring their lunch and enjoy it at the end of the tour.

Train Rides

The train ride takes both children and adults on a trip through a great park to explore the past. Sit back and enjoy the ride as you learn about the history of California and the transcontinental railroad.

Miner's Shaft

Students will have fun as they explore the depths of our the new mine shaft constructed for the 4th Grade California History Education Program.

Panning for Gold

Students will be experience panning for gold using a working water trough. While panning, they will be educated on tools used to pan, the rush in economy and population in California.

Miner's Camp

All students will view a real life demonstration given by a 49er on how life was during the gold rush. There is a camp with all of the daily tools that were used during life in the 1840’s.

Water Wheel Demonstration

The water wheel demonstration is a true-to-life replica of a water wheel. Students and teachers will enjoy the water wheel and learn the importance of water during the gold rush.

Fulfills CA Standards: Section 4.4 #6 & #7

This standards-based field trip is for 4th grade elementary school children. The field trip fulfills Grade Four State of California curriculum requirements. Irvine Regional Park is located in Orange County and is a short drive from Los Angeles County, San Diego County and Riverside County. The Easter Eggstravaganza will run DAILY beginning

March 20th through April 3rd, 2010.

Note: Irvine Regional Park and Irvine Park Railroad will be open on Easter Sunday but the Easter Eggstravaganza Events will not be open on Easter Sunday.

This event will be held inside of Locomotive Loop… just behind the train station.

Easter Egg Hunt

This exciting Easter egg hunt will include eggs filled with candy, stickers, free train tickets, and more! Children will be separated by age group for each Easter egg hunt. Each Easter egg hunt will be limited to a certain number of children so that all children can find Easter eggs. Children may bring their own Easter basket or Irvine Park Railroad will offer Easter baskets available for purchase. Plan to arrive early for this popular event.

Important Note: Easter egg hunts may sell out… plan to arrive early and receive a wristband for a specific time.

Meet the Easter Bunny

For the cost of $10.00, children can meet and have their photo taken with the Easter bunny. Each additional photo is $6.00. The pictures taken with the Easter bunny can be picked up at Irvine Park Railroad as you leave Locomotive Loop.

Train Rides

Both children and adults can enjoy a 12-minute ride through Irvine Regional Park. The engineer will narrate the train ride and point out areas of interest inside of the park… including the 300 year old historic oak grove, lakes, and historic landmarks. You may also see a bunny or two along the way!

Moon Bounce
1 Ticket per Child

Weekends: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Weekdays: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Children can enjoy 15 minutes of jump time in the bounce house. This is an activity children of all ages enjoy as they tumble, jump, and hippity hop with excitement.

Hay Ride

1 Ticket per Person

Weekends: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Weekdays: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

The hay ride has fast become a favorite activity for both children and adults. Take a 15-minute ride through Irvine Regional Park and enjoy the beautiful scenery… including beautiful Spring flowers, oak trees sprouting new growth, baby wild life, lush green meadows, and more.

Easter Cookie Decorating

Children of all ages can be imaginative and use frosting, candy and other goodies to decorate a giant sugar cookie… a big, sweat Easter treat.

The Easter egg hunts start promptly at the times indicated. This event at Irvine Regional Park is one of the most popular Easter events in Orange County. Plan to arrive early.
The Easter egg hunts are for children ages 2 to 12.
Be sure to bring your own Easter basket(s) for the Easter egg hunt. Irvine Park Railroad will offer Easter baskets for sale.
The Easter train is for children of all ages as well as adults.

Irvine Park Railroad offers Moonbounce Rentals for activities such as birthday parties, company picnics, church picnics and so much more. Three different sizes of Moonbounces are available and can accommodate children of all ages. Moonbounce rentals can be yours from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm inside Irvine Regional Park.

Each Moonbounce holds between 6-10 kids at one time.

This all depends on the age and size of kids.

All prices include full set up, a generator (if needed), and the required Public Property Permit ($65.00 fee). We accept cash, Visa or MasterCard.

Moonbounces can be rented for locations such as Party Pavilions, Sycamore Hill, Locomotive Loop, any of the Four Group Areas that can be reserved through the county as well as other locations inside of Irvine Regional Park.

We DO NOT rent Moonbounces for locations outside Irvine Regional Park.

Please note that all outside vendors must obtain a Public Property Permit from the County of Orange for the following activities: Catering, Moonbounces, clowns, face painters, animal shows, or any other activity in which a fee is paid to the vendor. Pick Your Perfect Pumpkin
Pumpkin prices are based on size.

Take as much time as you'd like to find the perfect pumpkin. The Pumpkin Patch, located in Locomotive Loop just behind the Train Station, is filled with thousands of pumpkins in all shapes and sizes. The cost of the pumpkins is based on size. The Pumpkin Patch is complete with Halloween décor and a farm house feel... and, makes an ideal setting for taking pictures!
