Miner’s Meadow is located directly behind the Train Station to the left. The entrance to Miner’s Meadow is through Parking lot #5. If you have a child that is crazy about Trains and the old west this would be the perfect spot for their next Birthday Party! This spot is also ideal for events like company picnics, family reunions or any large group event!

Miner’s Meadow is by reservation only and can only be held when paid for in full. Please remember this area is very popular and usually book 3-4 months in advance.

Please note that all outside vendors must obtain a Public Property Permit from the County of Orange for the following activities: Catering, moon bounces, clowns, face painters, animal shows, or any other activity in which any outside vendor is entering Irvine Regional Park. How to purchase Christmas Train tickets online:

Select the date and time that you would like to ride the Christmas Train.
Click on the "Click to Buy Now" button.
Proceed through the checkout process.

If tickets sell out online... purchase tickets in person!

If tickets to ride the Christmas Train sell out online, tickets will still be available for purchase in person at the train station. Tickets may be purchased in person on the day that you would like to ride the train. Visitors will be able to ride the train that night, however, we cannot guarantee that visitors can ride the train at a specific time.

Online ticket service fee.

There is a one-time, online ticket fee of $7.50 per order charged when tickets are purchased online.

During past holiday seasons, visitors expressed their desire to purchase Christmas Train tickets online to guarantee that they would be able to ride the train on a specific date and at a specific time... without having to wait in line. We listened and visitors can now purchase tickets online. There are additional costs to sell tickets online and these costs are included in the one-time online ticket fee.

As an option to buying tickets online, tickets may be purchased in person at the train station on that day that you would like to ride the train. If you purchase tickets in person at the train station, we cannot guarantee that you can ride the train at a specific time.

2010 Christmas Train

Tis the season, once again, for Irvine Park Railroad’s annual Christmas Train. Come with family and friends and take this enchanting night ride through historic Irvine Regional Park to meet Santa Claus. The train will depart from the brightly-lit Train Station and drop passengers off at the North Pole. Children can share their wish list with Santa and have their photo taken with him too. You may take pictures with your personal camera or you may purchase a photo taken by Irvine Park Railroad.

After visiting with Santa, hop back aboard the train and enjoy the colorful Christmas lights and decorations, as well as the magical “Tunnel of Lights”, on the ride back to the Santa's Village.

When visiting the Christmas Train, remember to dress warmly, bring a camera, and arrive early to avoid crowds. This is truly a Christmas event that you’ll remember for years to come!

Christmas Train tickets may be purchased to board the train at a specific time.

Get in line when it is your time to board the train. While waiting for your boarding time, there are many activities for children to enjoy in the Party Pavilions located next to the train station.

On Saturday, December 18th and Sunday December 19th only, the Christmas Train will open at 2:00 pm. And, December 20th through December 23rd, the Christmas train will open at 4:00 pm.

Important note: Regular train tickets, tokens, complimentary tickets, discount tickets, and/or coupons are not valid for the Christmas Train. All customers must ride the train to visit Santa Claus.

Tickets may be purchased online to ride the train on a specific day and at a specific time without having to wait in line. A one-time, online ticket fee will apply. Tickets may be purchased in person on the day that you will be riding the train, however, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to ride the train at a specific time. Photos with Santa Claus
$10.00 per photo - $6.00 for each additinal photo.

Irvine Park Railroad will take a picture of your children with Santa Claus. Each 5" x 7" photo is presented in an Irvine Park Railroad boarder and will be available for pickup shortly after it is taken. Or, you may take pictures with your personal camera at no cost.

Santa Bounce House Jumper
1 ticket per child for 10 minutes of jump time.

Time: 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Always a favorite with children, they’re sure to jump with joy in our Christmas bounce house. Children will jump and hop the night chill away.

Story Time with Mrs. Claus
Free for all visitors.

Time: 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Mrs. Claus will entertain children by reading from books including “The Night Before Christmas”, “The Twelve Days of Christmas” and other Christmas favorites. She will also lead both children and adults in singing Christmas carols. When not on stage, Mrs. Claus is also available for pictures.

Christmas Cookie Decorating
1 ticket per person.

Time: 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Children of all ages can be imaginative and use frosting, candy and other goodies to decorate a giant sugar cookie… a big, sweet treat for Christmas.

Christmas Carnival Games
1 ticket per child.

Time: 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Children can try their luck at two Christmas carnival games located adjacent to the train station. Every child that plays wins a prize!

Great Food
Prices vary by item.

Enjoy all the favorites from hot dogs and hamburgers to cookies and freshly-popped popcorn. Hot chocolate, coffee and other snacks are available to purchase at both the train station and Santa’s Village.

Christmas Coloring Corner
Free for all visitors.

Children can sit down at one of the coloring corner tables and color a Christmas coloring page that can be taken home and displayed for all to see.

Picture Stands
Free for all visitors.

Create lasting memories by taking photos in the festive holiday picture stands. Children and adults can pose together in a picture stand too!

To receive 2 FREE regular train tickets, email us a copy of your favorite “Irvine Park Railroad Christmas Train” picture. The free train tickets are not valid for the Christmas Train and only 1 picture per family may be submitted. Pictures will become the property of Irvine Park Railroad and may be posted on www.irvineparkrailroad.com.

Email pictures to info@irvineparkrailroad.com and be sure to include your name and mailing address in the email. Please allow 2 weeks to receive your train tickets by US mail.

Come aboard our hay wagon pulled by a John Deere tractor for a 20-minute ride through Irvine Regional Park. As you sit on top of hay bales in the wagon, you'll be able to view some of the most beautiful park scenery in Orange County.

John Deere Tractor Racers

This attraction is great for any child up for the challenge of driving a motorized John Deere Tractor racer for 5 minutes around a safe and fun obstacle course. Younger siblings or friends can ride along in the passenger seat for an additional ticket!

Guess The Weight of the Giant Pumpkin
Free for all individuals who have an email address.

Guess the weight of the giant pumpkin and the winner will take the pumpkin home! In order to enter the contest, a valid email address must be provided. The winner will be notified by email.

Pony Rides (Closed Mondays)
$4.00 per child. Irvine Park Railroad does not own or operate the pony rides. Irvine Park Railroad tickets are not valid for the pony rides. Pony ride tickets must be purchased at the pony ride ticket booth.

A visit to the Pumpkin Patch will be complete when your child saddles up to ride the walking or trotting ponys. The ponys, located next to the Train Station, are a lot of fun for children to ride.

Visit the Orange County Zoo that over 100 animals native to Southern California call home. There is a petting zoo, too, an ideal activity for young children. The zoo is a 5-minute walk from the Pumpkin Patch.

Paddle Boats
$12.00 per half hour ● Open daily from March 20, 2010 - October 31, 2010.

Have fun taking the paddle boats onto the lake. Older children and adults can paddle at your leisure while enjoying the great lakeside scenery. The last boat goes out one-half an hour before closing time.

4^th Grade California History Education Program

Irvine Park Railroad has created a California History Education Program that meets the curriculum requirements for fourth grade, history-social science content standards for California public schools (Section 4.3 and one-half of Section 4.4).

Cost: $12.50 per student (minumum 75 students) ■ $3.00 per adult ■ Teachers are FREE!

Field trip dates scheduled Monday through Friday (only) during the months of February and March.

Field trips begin at 9:30 am and last approximately 2 1/2 hours. A Party Pavilion will be available if students and teachers choose to bring their lunch and enjoy it at the end of the tour.

Train Rides

The train ride takes both children and adults on a trip through a great park to explore the past. Sit back and enjoy the ride as you learn about the history of California and the transcontinental railroad.

Miner's Shaft

Students will have fun as they explore the depths of our new mine shaft constructed for the 4th Grade California History Education Program. They will also get to see the types of tools used to dig and navigate through the mines.

Panning for Gold

Students will experience panning for gold using a working water trough. While panning, they will be educated on tools used to pan, the rush in economy and population in California.

Miner's Camp

All students will experience a fun and real life demonstration given by a 49er on how life was during the gold rush. This camp has all of the daily tools and eqipment that were used during life in the 1840’s. It wasn't all bad for a miner which kids will find out when they rope pretend cattle and learn games that got the miner's through the day.

Water Wheel Demonstration

The water wheel demonstration is a true-to-life replica of a water wheel. Students and teachers will enjoy the water wheel and learn the importance of water during the gold rush.

Wagons, Buggies & Transportation

This portion of the program includes routes that people took to get to California from all directions and the lives they led while making the cross-country journey. It also covers important figures such as James Beckworth, John Bidwell and John C. Fremont among others.

This standards-based field trip is for 4th grade elementary school children. The field trip fulfills Grade Four State of California curriculum requirements. Irvine Regional Park is located in Orange County and is a short drive from Los Angeles County, San Diego County and Riverside County. The Easter egg hunts start promptly at the times indicated. This event at Irvine Regional Park is one of the most popular Easter events in Orange County. Plan to arrive early.
The Easter egg hunts are for children ages 2 to 12.
Be sure to bring your own Easter basket(s) for the Easter egg hunt. Irvine Park Railroad will offer Easter baskets for sale.
The Easter train is for children of all ages as well as adults.

Package #1 is available for Sycamore Hill or a Party Pavilion (A, B, C or D) only.

Package #2 is available for any Irvine Park Railroad event area: A Party Pavilion, Sycamore Hill, Locomotive Loop or the Miner's Meadow.

These areas are available to rent year round and are perfect for any type of birthday party, family reunion, special occasion or corporate event.

Irvine Park Railroad offers moon bounce rentals for activities such as birthday parties, company picnics, church picnics and so much more. Three different sizes of moon bounces are available and can accommodate children of all ages. Moon bounce rentals can be yours from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm inside Irvine Regional Park.

Each moon bounce holds between 6-10 kids at one time.

By scheduling your school or group ahead of time, you can have access to one of our Party Pavilions FREE for lunch and activities. The Party Pavilions can be used only on the day you have booked your school or group to visit the pumpkin patch.

Things to know:

Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your start time; a late arrival may result in a shorter tour time.
The group tour will last approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hour, depending on the package purchased.
We suggest children wear matching shirts to more easily identify the children in your group.
Please have children wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe-shoes as they will be playing in the pumpkin patch.
There is no drinking fountain inside of the pumpkin patch; each paying child will receive a bottle of water after they receive their pumpkin. The water bottles will be available in the shaded picnic area where your group can enjoy snacks, lunch and games.
There is a restroom conveniently located at the end of the parking lot. We require one of your chaperones to accompany all children to and from the restrooms.

Please note that we will contact the Field Trip Coordinator by email the week prior to the scheduled visit as a reminder of the event. We will also include tips and reminders.

Rules and Regulations

Irvine Park Railroad event area rules and regulations are as follows:

Area rental fees are non-refundable unless it is raining on the day of your event.
Irvine Regional Park entrance fees are the responsibility of park visitors. Entrance fees are governed by the County of Orange. Irvine Park Railroad does not govern the park entrance fee and is not responsible for paying these fees.
If you would like to pre-purchase parking passes for you and your guests, you may do so in advance through PCI Parking: (949)922-4377.
Irvine Park Railroad cannot reserve parking for any event held at a Party Pavilion or any other event area. We encourage you and your guests to arrive at the park early to secure a parking spot near the Party Pavilion or event area. You and your guests should plan to arrive even earlier on weekends and holidays.
Guests must use the main entrance at all times to enter and exit the Party Pavilion and other event areas. Crossing train tracks to enter the Party Pavilions and other event areas is prohibited.
Climbing on hills, trees, rocks, the mine shaft, pond, fences and/or props of any kind is prohibited.
Organized or team games, for example baseball, volleyball and golf, are prohibited.
Waterslides, pools or use of sprinklers are prohibited.
Amplified sound, for example, DJs and karaoke machines, are prohibited.
Alcohol is prohibited. Groups that use alcohol will be cited and evicted from the park.
Please note: Only the person in charge of the party may redeem the discount for train tickets for their guests.
The Party Pavilion or other event area must be cleaned of party decorations and trash after your event. Trash cans are conveniently located in each Pavilion. If it is necessary for Irvine Park Railroad to clean your Party Pavilion, a $50.00 cleaning fee will be charged.

Orange County Zoo

The Orange County Zoo is nestled inside beautiful Irvine Regional Park. Tucked among coastal live oak and giant sycamore groves, this eight acre zoo displays flora and fauna native to the southwestern United States.

The Orange County Zoo exhibits its animals in naturalistic habitats for the comfort of the animals, to encourage natural behaviors and to enhance the education of visitors. The Zoo's focus is on animals and plants native to the southwestern United States. Animals on exhibit include black bears, mountain lions, bald eagle, island foxes, ocelot, red-tailed hawk, great horned owls, porcupine, coyotes, turkey vultures, coati and more. The zoo also features a barnyard with domestic goats, chevoit sheep, jacob sheep, pot-bellied pigs, doves and pheasants. In front of each animal exhibit are beautifully painted tiles of the animals, along with interesting facts about the animals.

The Zoo features an extensive collection of native plants. Throughout the zoo, you will find many interpretive plant signs, which include a description, botanical information and the traditional Native American usage of the plant. The barnyard area features a variety of domestic animals, including several breeds of sheep, goats and chickens. Many of these animals are available for touching contact through the fence. Grain may be purchased to feed some of the animals in the barnyard only.

School Tours

The Orange County Zoo offers docent-guided educational tours for pre-K to any grade level. Tours are about one hour in length and are $3.00 per person. Tours include information covered about animals native to the southwestern U.S. including habitats, adaptations, feeding habits and behavior. Tour information helps meet the standards for the Science Framework for California public schools.

Here are some frequently asked questions about Irvine Park Railroad:

Q: Are there restrooms located at the train station?

A: Yes. The restrooms are conveniently located at the end of the parking lot directly between Party Pavilion B and Party Pavilion C. The restrooms are the large, red building with the white ramp.

Q: If rented, how long do you have use of a Party Pavilion, Locomotive Loop or Sycamore Hill?

A: The group area is yours all day from the time the park opens until the time the park closes. The times change depending on season; please confirm the park hours prior to your event.

Q: Is there a difference between Party Pavilion A, B, C, D?

A: No. All the Party Pavilions have the same amenities and are located in the same area. Please see Train Station Map.

Q: Can I hold an area without paying for it? Are rental fees refundable?

A: Irvine Park Railroad requires that an area rental be paid for in full at the time the reservation is made in order to guarantee the area. Only when an area is paid for will it be reserved. Dates may not be changes if it is within 45 days of your original event date; Irvine Park Railroad needs time to re-rent the area. Refunds are only given if it is raining on the day of your event.

Q: Can my guests just add Train or Pony Tokens to my tab throughout the day?

A: No. Only the person who rented the Party Area may add tokens to the tab. They are also the only ones to recieve the discount on Train Tokens.

Q: If I have a party in an unreserved area of the park, and I rented a moonbounce, how do you know where to set it up?

A: Once you have selected and set up your group area, come to the train station ticket window to let Irvine Park Railroad the location of your event. We will promptly set up the moonbounce in that location.

Q: Why do I need a Public Property Permit?

A: The Public Property Permit is required for any outside vending company that will be entering the park including a catering service vendor (even if the vendor is simply dropping off food), moonbounce, clown, magician, animal show, etc. For more detailed information on Public Property Permits, call the County Permit Office at (949) 585-6430 or (949)585-6429.

Sycamore Hill

Sycamore Hill is located near the entrance of the park. A softball field, playground, volleyball court and restrooms are all conveniently located close by. This gated in area is just a 8-10 minute walk from the Train Station and available to rent year round.
